Privacy Policy

NextListen ("we", "us") provides a podcast app at nextlisten.co.uk and as an Android app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and who we share it with.

Data we collect

• Account data — your email address, used for sign-in and account recovery.
• Listening data — the podcasts and episodes you subscribe to, your play position, queue, and listening history, so playback can sync across devices.
• Device data — used to send you notifications about new episodes and to keep downloads working offline.
• Usage analytics — on the web app, page views and usage patterns via Google Analytics, and aggregate, cookieless traffic/performance metrics via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, to understand how the app is used and keep it fast.
• Crash and error data — when the app errors, technical details (what happened, device/browser information, and the sequence of events leading up to it) are sent to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem.

Advertising

The Android app is free and shows a banner advert served by Google AdMob. Before any ad is requested, we ask for your consent where required by UK/EEA law. AdMob and its advertising partners may use device identifiers and approximate location to serve and measure ads. You can review or withdraw consent at any time from the app's settings.

Who we share data with

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
• Google — Analytics (web usage) and AdMob (mobile ads), and push notification delivery.
• Vercel — hosts the web app, and provides aggregate, cookieless web analytics and performance monitoring (Vercel Analytics, Speed Insights) for it.
• Sentry — receives crash/error reports so we can diagnose and fix bugs.

We do not sell your personal data.

Your rights

You can export your subscriptions as a standard OPML file, and your full listening data (subscriptions, playback progress, played/archived state, and queues) as a JSON file, at any time from Settings. The JSON export is a record of what's stored about you, not yet a restorable backup. You can delete your account and associated data from Settings, or by emailing us. If you are in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data under GDPR.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your NextListen account yourself, on the web or in the Android app. Deleting is immediate and cannot be undone.

1. Web: sign in, open Settings, go to the Danger zone and choose Delete account.
2. Android app: open Settings, scroll to the bottom and choose Delete account.
3. By email: write to privacy@nextlisten.co.uk from the address you signed up with and we will delete it for you.

What is deleted: your account and sign-in details, your subscriptions, queues, listening progress and history, download records, registered devices and notification tokens.

What is kept: podcast and episode information that comes from public feeds is not personal data and stays for everyone else. Error reports already sent to Sentry are not tied to your account and expire under Sentry's own retention.

To keep your account but remove your subscriptions, you can unsubscribe from shows individually or export your data first from Settings.
